In October 2025, Greece experienced a 4.2% increase in retail sales compared to the same month the previous year. This follows a 1.7% decrease in September and marks a broad-based recovery. Leading the comeback were sales in clothing and footwear, which jumped by 9.6%—a significant improvement from the 4.8% decrease in September. Sales of furniture, electrical, and household equipment rose by 9.7%, up from 6.8%. Books, stationery, and other goods saw a 12.3% increase, up from 5.0%, while pharmaceuticals and cosmetics increased by 8.9%, compared to 6.3%. Sales in food, beverages, and tobacco edged up by 0.2%, improving from a 1.0% decline. However, fuel sales continued their downward trajectory, decreasing by 2.5% following a 6.7% drop in the preceding month. On a month-to-month basis, retail sales surged by 2.6% in October, a rebound from the 1.9% decline seen in September.
