Italian HICP Inflation Slows to 0.1% in June, Easing from May’s 0.3%

Italy’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) inflation eased in June 2026, with the month-over-month rate slipping to 0.1%, down from 0.3% recorded in May 2026. The latest data, updated on 30 June 2026, indicate a further cooling in price momentum on a short-term basis.

The June figure means consumer prices in Italy continued to rise, but at a significantly slower pace compared with the previous month. In May, the 0.3% increase had already represented relatively moderate inflation, and June’s reading suggests an additional softening in underlying price pressures.

On a month-over-month comparison basis, the “actual” indicator for June reflects the change in prices versus May 2026, while the “previous” figure refers to May’s change relative to April 2026. The step-down from 0.3% to 0.1% will be closely watched by market participants and policymakers as they assess the trajectory of inflation and its implications for domestic demand and monetary conditions within the euro area framework.
