Belgium Consumer Sentiment Improves in July

Belgium’s consumer confidence indicator improved to -5 in July 2026 from -7 in June, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase and the highest level in four months. Sentiment strengthened across most components. Expectations for the country’s economic outlook became less pessimistic (-27 vs. -31), though they remained firmly negative. Expectations regarding households’ financial situation held steady at -2, while views on savings capacity turned more optimistic, rising to 23 from 19. However, labor market confidence weakened slightly, as unemployment expectations edged up to 14 from 13, returning to the level seen two months earlier and staying in pessimistic territory.
