Taiwan’s FX Reserves Slip to $594.27 Billion in July, Ending Upward Trend

Taiwan’s foreign exchange reserves declined in July 2026, edging down to USD 594.27 billion from USD 597.15 billion in June, according to data updated on 5 August 2026. The move marks a reversal from the previous month, when reserves had stood at a higher level.

The July figure suggests a modest drawdown of USD 2.88 billion over the month. While no official explanation accompanied the data, the slip in reserves may attract attention from market participants who monitor Taiwan’s buffer against external shocks and its capacity to manage currency volatility.

Despite the month-on-month decrease, Taiwan’s FX reserves remain elevated by historical standards, continuing to provide a substantial cushion for the economy and financial system.
