Danish Consumer Confidence at 6-Month High

Denmark’s consumer confidence index rose to -13.1 in August 2026 from -14.7 in July, reaching its highest level since February. Views on the country’s economic situation over the past 12 months became slightly less negative (-22.7 vs -23.8), and households’ assessment of their own financial situation compared with a year earlier also improved (-7.6 vs -10.5).

Looking ahead to the next 12 months, households’ expectations turned marginally positive (0.4 vs -3.5). At the same time, the willingness to make major purchases of consumer durables—such as televisions or washing machines—was less subdued (-14.9 vs -16.9).

Outside the main index, perceptions of current price growth eased slightly (29.9 vs 30.4), while expectations for price increases over the coming year strengthened (30.5 vs 25.0). Concerns about unemployment over the next 12 months also ticked up (15.8 vs 15.0).
