Norway Producer Inflation Hits Near 4-Year High

Producer prices in Norway surged 30.1% year-on-year in August 2026, up from 23.4% in July, reaching their highest level since September 2022. The acceleration was broad-based, with notable increases in key sub-indices: extraction of oil and natural gas (52.1% vs. 38.2% in July), manufacturing (7.9% vs. 6.4%), electricity, gas and steam (57.9% vs. 41%), and energy goods (53.2% vs. 39.8%). Excluding energy goods, producer price growth inched up to 5.4% from 5.3% in the previous month.

By market, domestic producer prices rose 11.9% year-on-year, compared with 10% in July, while export market prices jumped 41.4%, up from 31%. On a monthly basis, producer price growth slowed to 4.7% in August, following a four-month high of 8.9% in July.
