In March 2025, France's annual inflation rate remained steady at 0.8%, matching February's rate and marking the lowest level since February 2021. Energy prices saw a sharper decline at -6.6%, compared to -5.8% the previous month, and manufactured goods dipped by 0.2% after previously maintaining stability. However, these decreases were counterbalanced by a rise in service prices, which increased by 2.3% compared to 2.2% in February, driven notably by insurance costs. Food prices also surged, climbing to 0.6% from 0.3%, with fresh products seeing a significant jump to 3.8% from 1.8%. Tobacco prices increased, albeit more slowly, rising by 4.1% compared to 4.5% previously. On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices rose by 0.2% after a period of stagnation, aligning with initial projections. This increase was largely influenced by seasonal uplift in manufactured product prices, which rose by 1.1% from 0.3%, notably in clothing and footwear which saw a substantial rise to 5.7% from 1.4%. The EU-harmonized annual inflation rate remained unchanged at 0.9% but saw a monthly rise of 0.2%, both figures aligning with earlier estimates.
