The ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment for the Euro Area experienced a significant decline, dropping by 58.3 points from the previous month to reach -18.5 in April 2025. This figure marks the lowest level since December 2022 and is well below the anticipated value of 14.2. In April, approximately 41.1% of analysts surveyed predicted no change in economic activity, while 20.2% expected an improvement, and 38.7% foresaw a deterioration. Concurrently, the assessment of the current economic situation fell by 5.7 points to -50.9, and inflation expectations decreased by 9.1 points to reach -3.1.
