In May 2025, Italy experienced an expansion in its current account surplus, growing to €1.67 billion compared to €0.93 million in May of the previous year. The deficit in primary income saw an improvement, reducing to €4.05 billion from €5.25 billion. However, the secondary income deficit rose, reaching €0.71 billion from the previous year's €0.57 billion. Furthermore, the goods surplus experienced a slight decline, falling to €6.28 billion from €6.50 billion, and the services surplus also contracted to €0.15 billion from €0.26 billion.
