Estonia experienced a reduction in its trade deficit in June 2025, with the shortfall decreasing to EUR 304 million from EUR 307 million in June of the previous year. This improvement was largely attributed to a more significant increase in exports compared to imports. Specifically, exports grew by 6% year-over-year, reaching a total of EUR 1,443 million. This was fueled by a 10% increase in shipments to non-EU countries and a 4% rise in exports to EU nations. Key commodities showing notable export growth included transport equipment, which surged by 21%, wood and wood products, which increased by 13%, and textiles and textile articles, which saw a 12% rise.
Conversely, imports grew by a slightly lower rate of 5%, amounting to EUR 1,747 million. This increase was characterized by a 13% rise in purchases from non-EU countries and a 3% increase in imports from EU countries. Noteworthy growth in imports was observed in articles of plastics and rubber, transport equipment, and miscellaneous manufactured articles, all of which expanded by 22%.
Over the first half of the year, Estonia recorded a trade deficit totaling EUR 1,766 million, which marks an increase from the EUR 1,608 million deficit recorded in the same period the previous year.
