Chile's unemployment rate climbed to 8.7% during the May to July 2025 timeframe, maintaining the same level as the corresponding period last year and falling short of market forecasts set at 9.1%. This increase can be attributed to a 0.7% growth in the labor force, which expanded to 4,580,031 individuals, while employment numbers experienced a slight rise of 0.2%, bringing the total of employed individuals to 4,156,809. Consequently, the number of unemployed persons increased by 6.0%, reaching 423,222, primarily due to individuals categorized as cesantes, or those who have lost their jobs. Analyzing by gender, the unemployment rate was 10.2% for women and 8.5% for men.
