Denmark Inflation Rises to 2.3% in September

In September 2025, Denmark's annual inflation rate increased to 2.3%, up from 2% in August. This rise was largely driven by escalating prices in several sectors: housing and utilities climbed to 1.6% from 1.3%, transport surged to 2.0% from 0.6%, while recreation and culture rose to 3.0% from 2.6%. Additionally, prices for restaurants and hotels increased to 1.8% from 0.8%, and communication expenses went up to 4.1% from 3.2%. Conversely, the rate of price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages eased to 5.3% from 5.8%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco decreased to 0.9% from 1.0%, and health costs fell sharply to 1.1% from 2.5%. Prices also declined in clothing and footwear, reversing from an increase of 0.7% to a decrease of 0.8%, and in furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance, which dipped to -0.1% from a previous climb of 1.6%. On a monthly scale, consumer prices experienced a slight decline of 0.1%, improving upon the significant 0.7% drop recorded in the prior month. Meanwhile, core inflation, which strips out the volatility of energy and unprocessed food prices, slightly decreased to 2.2%, down from a nineteen-month peak of 2.3% seen in August.
