According to the Financial Times, China has intensified its enforcement of import restrictions on U.S.-made semiconductors, including Nvidia's AI chips, in a strategic move to bolster its domestic chip industry. Customs officials have been deployed to key ports to inspect semiconductor shipments, initially focusing on Nvidia's H20 and RTX Pro 6000D models, which were designed to adhere to U.S. export regulations. This inspection effort has now widened to include all sophisticated chips that could potentially violate U.S. export restrictions. Chinese authorities have accused Nvidia of breaching anti-monopoly legislation and have instructed technology companies to stop purchasing these chips and to cancel existing orders. Additionally, on Thursday, China declared new export restrictions on specific types of artificial diamonds, which will become effective just before the expiration of the U.S.-China tariff truce. This move further tightens Beijing's control over high-tech supply chains.
