In October 2025, South Korea's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly to 2.6% from September's 2.5%, mirroring August's figures. The country's economy saw the creation of 193,000 new jobs for the month, contributing to a consistent rise in employment throughout the year and bringing the total employed population to 29.04 million. Despite these gains, youth employment continued its downward trend, declining for the 18th consecutive month, and jobs in the manufacturing and construction sectors also experienced a drop. In contrast, the number of unemployed individuals decreased by 20,000, or 2.9%, compared to the previous year, totaling 658,000 this October. The labor force participation rate also showed an increase, climbing by 173,000 or 0.6% from the previous year to reach 29.7 million.
