In October 2025, Japan witnessed a notable rise in machine tool orders, which increased by 16.8% compared to the previous year, reaching JPY 143,084 million. This growth exceeded market expectations of a 9.9% increase and built upon an upwardly revised 11% gain observed the month prior. This surge represented the highest order level since March, largely fueled by a substantial 20.7% increase in foreign demand, which attained JPY 107,522 million. Moreover, domestic orders saw a rise of 6.3% from the previous year, totaling JPY 35,562 million. Examining the year-to-date figures, overall machine tool orders rose by 7% over the same period last year, amounting to JPY 1,308,299 million, with foreign demand climbing by 9.8% and domestic demand inching up by 0.4%.
