Montenegro Inflation Rate Ticks Lower

In October 2025, Montenegro's annual inflation rate experienced a slight decrease to 4.8%, down from the sixteen-month peak of 4.9% recorded in September. The reduction was primarily influenced by moderated price increases in several categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a rise of 6%, down from 6.6% in the previous month; furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance increased by 4.3% compared to 5.1%; health-related costs grew by 13.1%, slightly lower than September's 13.4%; and recreation and culture saw a 7.2% increase, down from 7.7%. Meanwhile, prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco remained steady at 6.1%, and education costs stayed flat. Conversely, there was an acceleration in the costs for transport, which climbed to 2.5% from 1.8%, housing and utilities rose to 7.4% from 7.3%, and restaurant and hotel expenses increased to 6.4% from 6.2%. Miscellaneous goods and services also saw a slight uptick to 3.5% from 3.4%. Deflationary pressures on clothing and footwear eased, with prices falling by 4.1%, compared to a 4.7% drop previously. On a monthly scale, prices experienced a further decline of 0.2%, following a 0.1% reduction in September. The annual harmonized inflation rate also slightly decreased to 4.6% from 4.7%, the lowest since June.
