In October 2025, employment in Australia experienced a substantial increase, surging by 42,200 to reach a record high of 14.68 million. This growth marks a significant acceleration from the previous month's revised gain of 12,700, greatly surpassing the market's anticipated increase of 20,000. Notably, full-time employment saw a robust rise of 55,300, achieving a new peak of 10.14 million and rebounding considerably from the revised September increase of 6,500. Contrarily, part-time employment saw a decline of 13,100, following a prior increase of 6,300. Both the employment-to-population ratio and the participation rate remained steady at 64.0% and 67.0%, respectively. On a year-over-year basis, overall employment rose by 232,700, representing a 1.6% increase.
