FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Rallies to Over 1-1/2-Year High

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, which monitors the shipping rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, continued its upward trend for the sixth consecutive day on Thursday, gaining 0.4% to reach its highest level since March 2024, at 2,270 points. The capesize index, known for transporting large cargoes of approximately 150,000 tons such as iron ore and coal, also experienced an increase for the sixth session, climbing 0.3% to its highest point since late July, at 3,647 points. Similarly, the panamax index, which typically carries between 60,000 and 70,000 tons of coal or grain, saw a rise of 0.9%, reaching 1,912 points. Within the category of smaller vessels, the supramax index extended its gains for the 11th consecutive session, increasing by 0.4% to 1,435 points.
