In October 2025, Kosovo's trade deficit expanded to EUR 530 million, up from EUR 493 million in the same period the previous year, primarily due to a greater increase in imports compared to exports. On an annual basis, imports climbed by 7.2% to reach EUR 621.8 million, driven primarily by sectors such as transport, which rose by 13.4%, machinery mechanical and electrical equipment at 12.5%, prepared foods, beverages and tobacco at 11.7%, mineral products at 11.2%, and basic metals at 9.9%. The country’s leading import partners were Germany, accounting for 15.7% of imports, followed by Italy at 5.8% and Poland at 3.4%. In contrast, exports experienced a more modest increase of 5.1%, totaling EUR 91.8 million. Basic metals represented the largest export segment, with a growth of 21%, trailed by plastics and rubber at 12.5%, various manufactured articles at 10.8%, prepared foods, beverages and tobacco at 10.5%, and mineral products at 8.9%. Key export destinations were Germany at 12.9%, the Netherlands at 3.2%, and Italy at 2.7%.
