Brazil Economy Adds Less Jobs than Expected

In October 2025, Brazil saw the creation of 85,147 formal jobs, falling short of the anticipated market forecast of 105,000 and marking a decline from 213,002 jobs in September. The month recorded 2,271,460 new hires against 2,186,313 layoffs. Among the five primary sectors, the services sector led with an increase of 82,436 jobs, followed by the commerce and vehicle repair sector, which added 25,592 positions. Conversely, the construction sector lost 2,875 jobs, and the industrial sector saw a decrease of 10,092 jobs. The agriculture, livestock, forestry, and fishing sector experienced a decline of 9,917 positions. The Distrito Federal recorded the highest relative increase in employment, up by 1.47% to reach 15,467 jobs. It was followed by Alagoas, with an increase of 0.97% to 4,657 jobs, and Pernambuco, up by 0.67% to 10,596 jobs. São Paulo saw an addition of 18,456 jobs, an increase of 0.12%, while Rio de Janeiro increased its job count by 7,437, or 0.19%. The average admission wage rose to R$2,304.31, up from R$2,286.34 in September.
