On Friday, India's BSE Sensex experienced a session of volatility, ultimately closing nearly unchanged at 85,706.7, close to its historic highs. The recent gains prompted some investors to selectively book profits. Nonetheless, market sentiment was supported by anticipated interest rate reductions from both the Federal Reserve and the Reserve Bank of India next month, along with robust growth forecasts and positive expectations surrounding trade discussions with the United States. Among the biggest decliners, Power Grid fell 1.4%, while Bharti Airtel, Eternal, and Infosys each declined 0.7%, 0.7%, and 0.6% respectively. Other stocks, such as ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, and Axis Bank, saw slight decreases, losing between 0.3% and 0.4%. For the week, the index gained 0.6%, and for the month, it rose by 2.1%, marking its fourth successive monthly increase.
