In the fourth quarter of 2025, South Africa's RMB/BER business confidence index increased to 44 from the previous quarter's one-year low of 39. This marks the first uptick following two consecutive declines, placing the index three points above its long-term average. Noteworthy improvements were observed across five sectors, though building contractors experienced a dip in confidence, declining seven points to 39. Despite this, there was an improvement in activity, signifying the sector's ongoing recovery. RMB emphasized in a statement that, for business confidence to establish and expand, there must be consistent policy advancement and steady demand.
