The average interest rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage dropped to 6.18% on December 24th, down from 6.21% the week before, marking the lowest level since October, as reported by Freddie Mac. "This week's further reduction in average 30-year fixed mortgage rates presents a well-timed opportunity for prospective homebuyers," stated Sam Khater, Chief Economist at Freddie Mac.
