Chile witnessed a slight uptick in its annual inflation rate, registering 3.5% in December 2025, a modest rise from 3.4% in November. This increase is attributed to heightened price pressures in various sectors. Notably, the cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose to 4.2% from 3.6%, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased to 3.1% from 2.2%. Additionally, household equipment and maintenance saw an uptick to 0.9% from a stagnation at 0%, healthcare edged up to 4.8% from 4.4%, information and communication rose to 0.2% from 0%, and the restaurant and lodging sector climbed to 6.7% from 6.6%. Conversely, there was a deeper deflation in clothing and footwear, which dropped to -3.7% from -1.8%, and deflation resurfaced in insurance and financial services moving to -2.8% from a prior 0.4%. Meanwhile, inflation eased in sectors such as housing and utilities, decreasing to 6.5% from 6.7%, transport cooling to 0.7% from 1.2%, and recreation, sports, and culture dropping slightly to 1.8% from 1.9%. Month-on-month, consumer prices experienced a decline of 0.2% in December, overturning the 0.3% rise observed in November.
