On Friday, the CAC 40 index rose by 1.4%, reaching an all-time high of 8,362, building on its gains from the previous session. This resulted in a weekly increase of 1.8%, primarily fueled by robust performances in the luxury sector and a notable surge in BNP Paribas shares. L’Oréal announced its acquisition of Kering’s cosmetics division for approximately €4 billion, marking a significant expansion in its luxury segment in recent years. This deal, slated to finalize in the first half of 2026, resulted in a 6.3% jump in L’Oréal shares, with LVMH, Hermès, and Kering rising by 2.8%, 3.7%, and 2.5%, respectively. BNP Paribas experienced a 5.7% surge following an upgrade to 'Buy' from UBS, which also increased its 12-month price target. Other significant gainers included TotalEnergies, which increased by 3.3%, STMicroelectronics by 2.9%, Saint Gobain by 2.4%, Capgemini by 2.3%, and Dassault Systèmes by 1.9%. Conversely, Orange led the decliners with a 2.9% decrease, followed by Bouygues and Vinci, both of which fell by 2.2%.
