In December 2025, Greece experienced an inflation rate increase to 2.6%, up from 2.4% in November, marking the highest rate observed since August. This uptick was largely attributed to accelerated price escalations in several categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages, which surged to 3.6% from 2.7% the previous month. Similarly, there were notable increases in the clothing and footwear sector, rising to 1.8% from 1.3%; transport, which climbed to 1.7% from 0.7%; and recreation and culture, which reached 1% from 0.7%. Meanwhile, inflation rates held steady for household equipment at 0.5%, education at 2.8%, and miscellaneous goods and services at 0.6%. In contrast, the rate of price growth moderated in the housing sector, decreasing to 2.8% from 3.7%; health, which fell to 0.4% from 0.6%; and communication, which eased to 0.3% from 0.5%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.3% in December, following a 0.1% rise in the prior month.
