In December 2025, France experienced a 0.7% decline in industrial production on a monthly basis, overturning the previously enhanced growth of 0.1% from November and diverging from market projections that anticipated a 0.2% rise. This development marked the first downturn since August. The manufacturing sector witnessed a reduction of 0.8%, a contraction primarily driven by a significant decline in the production of transport equipment, which plunged by 9.9% following a 3.8% increase. Notably, the production of other transport equipment saw a considerable decrease of 15.8% compared to a previous rise of 4.3%, with the aerospace construction industry being particularly affected, as the steep decline in December negated the progress made in the preceding three months. Furthermore, there was a notable reduction in output within the water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation sectors, which decreased by 2.1% compared to a previous drop of 0.2%. On the other hand, declines were less pronounced in the mining and quarrying sector, which saw a 0.2% decrease from a previous 1.7%, and in the electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply sector, which edged down slightly by 0.1% against a prior 1.8% drop. On a quarterly scale, industrial production saw a 0.3% increase, while year-over-year output expanded by 1.8%.
