Lithuania’s consumer prices moved sharply higher at the start of 2026, with the country’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 1.5% month-on-month in January. The data, updated on 13 February 2026, marks a notable turnaround from December 2025, when prices had fallen by 0.1% on a monthly basis.
The comparison is made on a month-over-month basis, measuring how prices in January 2026 changed relative to December 2025. In contrast, the previous figure reflected the change in prices in December 2025 compared with November 2025. The swing from a slight decline to a solid increase suggests a renewed pick-up in price pressures after a brief period of easing at the end of last year.
The January rebound in CPI will be closely watched by policymakers and markets, as it may signal a shift in the inflation trend following December’s modest deflationary reading.
