Thailand’s imports recorded a sharp year-over-year acceleration at the start of 2026, with growth jumping to 30.10% in January compared with the same month a year earlier. The latest reading, updated on 27 February 2026, marks a strong pickup from December 2025, when imports were up 18.00% year-over-year.
The data show that the January 2026 figure is not just higher in absolute terms, but also represents a clear intensification in external demand and/or domestic demand for foreign goods compared with the close of 2025. While December’s 18.00% gain already pointed to solid momentum, the move to 30.10% suggests import activity is expanding at a significantly faster clip.
On a year-over-year basis, the “previous” indicator reflects December 2025 imports relative to December 2024, while the “actual” January 2026 figure compares to January 2025. The strong step-up between these two comparison points underscores a notable strengthening in Thailand’s import dynamics as the new year begins.
