US Core PCE Inflation Eases to 2.7% in Q4, Signalling Gradual Disinflation

The United States’ core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index eased in the fourth quarter, with the annualized rate slowing to 2.70%, down from 2.90% previously. Both readings refer to the fourth quarter of 2025, with the updated figures released on 13 March 2026.

Core PCE, a key gauge of underlying inflation pressures that excludes volatile food and energy components, is closely watched as a benchmark for price stability. The latest revision indicates a modest but continued disinflationary trend over the period, suggesting that underlying price pressures in the US economy were cooling slightly faster than earlier data had indicated.
