New Zealand’s economy expanded by 0.2% quarter-on-quarter in Q2 2026, easing from a revised 0.9% increase in Q1 but slightly exceeding the consensus forecast of 0.1%. Growth was primarily supported by goods-producing industries, which rose 1.3%, underpinned by a 1.3% gain in wholesale trade. Service industries grew 0.2%, driven by stronger activity in public administration and safety (up 2.0%), information media and telecommunications (up 1.7%), and healthcare and social assistance (up 0.8%). By contrast, primary industries shrank 0.3%, dragged down by a 0.4% decline in mining.
