In March 2025, Portugal's unemployment rate remained steady at 6.5%, mirroring the revised figure for February. This stability comes as the number of unemployed individuals increased by 2,100, reaching a total of 358,700, while the employed population rose by 3,100, totaling 5.175 million. The employment rate persisted at 64.6%, consistent with February, and the labor force participation rate also remained unchanged at 69.1%. However, the labor underutilization rate, which includes the unemployed, part-time workers seeking more hours, inactive individuals looking for work but unavailable, and those ready to work but not actively seeking employment, inched up to 11% from February's 10.9%. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate, which captures job-seekers aged 16 to 24, saw a slight improvement, declining to 20.7% from a revised 21% in February.
