In April 2025, Bulgaria experienced an increase in its business confidence indicator, which climbed to 19.3 from 14.5 observed the previous month. This positive shift can be predominantly attributed to heightened optimism among industrial entrepreneurs regarding not only the current business landscape—rising to 29.1 from 20.3 in March—but also the outlook for the forthcoming six months, which improved to 10.2 from 9. Furthermore, respondents perceived the current production activities as favorable, with a slight increase to 4.7 from 4.1. However, their forecast for production in the next three months experienced a minor decline, moving to 7 from 7.3%. Despite these improvements, challenges remain, notably the uncertain economic environment, which eased slightly to 51.6 from 56.8, and the persistent labor shortage, which saw a marginal improvement to 29.4 from 30.7. These factors continue to pose significant hurdles to business development.
