FX.co ★ Bulgaria Current Account Surplus Narrows in August

In August 2025, Bulgaria experienced a notable contraction in its current account surplus, which decreased to €301.6 million compared to €692.3 million in the same month the previous year. This decline was primarily driven by a substantial rise in the goods account deficit, escalating to €447.0 million from €184.5 million the previous year. Furthermore, the deficit in primary income also increased to €381.5 million, up from €210.5 million. Conversely, the services surplus saw growth, rising to €1,066.7 million from €1,025.3 million, while the secondary income surplus experienced a modest increase to €63.3 million from the previous €62.0 million.
