In February 2025, manufacturing sales in Canada experienced a 0.2% increase month-over-month, reaching CAD 72 billion. This performance surpassed previous forecasts, which had anticipated a 0.2% decrease, thereby continuing a five-month trend of rising sales and achieving the highest sales level since September 2023. The growth was primarily fueled by significant advances in the primary metal sector, which grew by 8.3%, and the chemical product sector, up by 6.7%. Conversely, the petroleum and coal product sector experienced a notable decline of 5.2%. Manufacturing sales increased in four provinces, with Ontario and Quebec seeing the most significant gains, whereas Alberta recorded the largest decrease. When compared to February 2024, the overall sales registered a 2.1% growth.
