US Futures Edge Lower to Start the Week

U.S. stock futures dipped slightly on Monday as investors sought fresh drivers to maintain the momentum of the recent market rally. The S&P 500 climbed by 1.47% on Friday, recording its ninth consecutive day of gains, the longest streak since November 2004. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq Composite also showed strong performances, rising by 1.39% and 1.51%, respectively. Wall Street has now completely recouped the losses experienced after President Donald Trump announced extensive reciprocal tariffs on April 2. There is growing optimism for potential trade agreements between the U.S. and major partners such as India, Japan, and South Korea. Moreover, China indicated it is exploring the possibility of initiating trade talks with the U.S., which further lifted market sentiment. This week, attention will turn to the Federal Reserve's policy meeting where it is anticipated that interest rates will remain steady amid ongoing trade-related uncertainties. Additionally, a new wave of corporate earnings reports is expected, which could offer further direction for the markets.
