Over a span of four years of his term in office, the 45th US President Donald Trump has managed to drive a wedge between the United States and the rest of the world. He adopted an aggressive stance not only against authoritarian regimes and dictatorships but also the country’s neighbours and allies. After the results of the presidential election have been announced, Donald Trump joined the club of the one-term US presidents. Meanwhile, the Biden administration does not intend to continue Trump’s rhetoric and plans to restore the relations with the closest US partners, including the European Union. The European authorities have already expressed their willingness to open a dialog with its American counterpart. Europe is eager to restore its ties in all the areas of cooperation with the United States. Both sides no longer wish to postpone reconciliation. In the first six months of 2021, the countries are expected to hold a large-scale bilateral summit. In the course of the top-level meeting, the parties are supposed to develop an approach of transatlantic cooperation that will guide the future US-EU relations. This document will cover four major policy areas: health response, climate change, trade and tech, and security. Mr. Trump did everything in his power to escalate tensions between the US and the EU. For this very reason, Europe breathed a sigh of relief when the official result of the US presidential election revealed the victory of Democrat Joe Biden. The leaders of the euro area countries were one of the first to offer their congratulations to the president-elect.
