Brazil’s new vehicle sales inched down 0.8% month-over-month in June 2026, totaling 272,500 units, after a strong 10.6% surge in May. The recently introduced Provisional Measure, which created a government-backed discount program for new vehicles to promote sustainability and fleet renewal, only began to take effect in the final week of June. Even so, it was sufficient to make June the second-strongest sales month of the year. Approximately 79,000 discounted vehicles had been delivered to dealerships but were not yet registered, indicating likely stronger sales figures in July. By segment, passenger car sales fell 0.8% and light commercial vehicle sales dropped 4.9%, while truck sales climbed 15.9% and bus sales soared 36.7%.
