The Baltic Dry Index slipped 0.2% to 3,083 on Monday, pulling back from a nine-week high hit on Friday. The Capesize index, which tracks vessels typically carrying 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, declined 0.5% to 5,105. In contrast, the Panamax index, gauging ships that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, edged up 0.4% to 2,306, its highest level since June 2. The Supramax index was largely unchanged at 1,603.
