Romania’s industrial production remained in contraction in June 2026, but the pace of decline slowed marginally compared with the previous month, according to the latest year-over-year data updated on 13 August 2026. Industrial output fell by 5.2% in June versus the same month a year earlier, after a 5.3% year-over-year drop recorded in May 2026.
While the improvement of just 0.1 percentage points signals only a modest easing in the downturn, it suggests that the sharp industrial contraction seen earlier in the year may be stabilizing. The year-over-year comparison highlights that, despite the slight uptick, Romania’s industrial sector continues to face a challenging environment, with output still significantly below last year’s levels.
