Industrial production in the Euro Area was flat in June 2026, following a 0.3% increase in May and defying market expectations of a 0.1% decline. Output recovered for durable consumer goods (up 0.3% after a 1.3% drop in May) and continued to rise for both non-durable consumer goods (3% vs 3.3% previously) and energy (1.5% vs 2.6%). In contrast, production decreased for intermediate goods (-0.8% vs -0.2%) and capital goods (-1.4% vs a 0.5% increase in May). Among the largest economies in the bloc, industrial output edged up by 0.2% in Germany, was unchanged in France, and fell by 0.7% in Spain. On an annual basis, industrial production rose 0.1%, outperforming market forecasts of a 0.8% contraction.
