European equities were broadly muted on Thursday, with the STOXX 50 up 0.1% and the pan-European STOXX 600 down 0.2%. AI-linked stocks outperformed after Nvidia’s upbeat sales forecast helped ease worries about excessive valuations in the sector. ASML Holding rose 1.5%, while ASM International gained 2.7%. Siemens Energy, a supplier of turbines used in data centers, advanced 2.3%, and software giant SAP added 1%. Chipmaker STMicroelectronics was among the top gainers, jumping 3.5%.
By contrast, energy majors declined in line with falling oil prices, and mining stocks also moved lower. Among notable individual movers, French spirits producer Pernod Ricard slipped 1.5% after reporting a sharper-than-expected drop in sales. Germany’s Delivery Hero edged up 0.4% after upgrading its outlook for 2026.
Investors are also turning their attention to the Jackson Hole economic symposium, which starts on Thursday, with Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh scheduled to speak on Friday.
