Retail sales in Croatia increased by 3.6% year-on-year in July 2026, up from a 0.4% rise in June, marking the 40th consecutive month of growth. This was the strongest expansion since December 2025, driven by a 4.5% increase in sales of non-food products excluding automotive fuels and lubricants (vs. 1.5% in June) and a 3.9% rise in food, beverages, and tobacco sales (vs. 2.9%).
By contrast, sales of automotive fuels and lubricants fell by 2.8%, though this was a marked improvement from the 12.9% decline recorded in June. Retail sales via the internet or mail order also decreased, slipping 3.6% (vs. a 3.2% drop in June).
On a monthly basis, retail trade edged up 1.4% in July, slightly below the 1.5% gain in June. Over the first seven months of 2026, retail sales were up 2.2% compared with the same period a year earlier.
