Producer prices in Latvia rose 2.6% year-on-year in August 2026, down from a revised 3.3% in July and reaching their lowest annual increase since May. Cost growth slowed in mining and quarrying (4.9% vs 7.8% in July) and eased sharply in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (1.0% vs 8.0%).
By contrast, price growth in manufacturing accelerated (2.5% vs 1.9%), supported by stronger increases in several categories: beverages (3.6% vs 3.5%); wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture, as well as articles of straw and plaiting materials (5.4% vs 4.0%); paper and paper products (2.6% vs 0.4%); chemicals and chemical products (8.2% vs 7.4%); rubber and plastic products (6.2% vs 3.9%); and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (3.5% vs 2.4%). Prices also continued to rise for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (9.1% vs 8.7%).
On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 0.5% in August, reversing a revised 0.1% decline in July.
