Cyprus’ annual inflation rate edged up to 3.69% in September 2026 from 3.52% in August, remaining at its highest level since September 2023. The uptick was mainly driven by faster price increases in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (9.63% vs 6.86%), as well as in transportation (11.87% vs 11.36%). Price growth also strengthened in restaurants and accommodation services (3.84% vs 3.42%) and in health (1.29% vs 1.03%), while it slowed in education (3.11% vs 3.52%).
At the same time, inflation eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.56% vs 3.81%), recreation, sport and culture (3.09% vs 3.23%), and furnishings and household equipment, which saw a smaller decline (-0.48% vs -0.84%). Clothing and footwear prices fell more sharply (-10.75% vs -6.29%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.74% in September, following a 0.91% increase in August.
