The social networks connect people with different interests. The ResearchGate created in 2008 stands out of the crowd. The main users of this social network are scientists from all over the world. They need a social-networking website for communication, information exchange, as well as for publication of their articles and experiments' reports. This project did not go unnoticed, and Microsoft founder Bill Gates has already invested $35 mln in its development. Ijad Madisch, a ResearchGate developer, told the journalists that previously Bill Gates lauded this project and agreed to take part in financing it. The advantages of this social network for the scientists are pretty obvious. For example, once a doctor from Nigeria came into contact with a professor from Italy while trying to identify the patient's death cause. Together, they managed to diagnose a new kind of infection, which used to be considered as non-communicable for humans. Ijad Madisch added that Mr Gates was so impressed by this story that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation representatives reached the ResearchGate creator in two weeks. The foundation, which is oriented to the scientific research development in order to help people suffering from poliomyelitis, malaria, and HIV, after careful scrutiny decided to allocate $35 mln for the further social network improvement.
