The new book “Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk and the Bet of the Century” written by Tim Higgins, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, provides readers with a revealing insight into the life of legendary Elon Musk. Meanwhile, the protagonist has dismissed the book as “false” and “boring”.
The book recounts several episodes of Musk’s rage that he flew into during stressful times as Tesla's CEO. It also revealed the billionaire’s desire to become Apple’s CEO. Five years ago, Tim Cook suggested to Musk that Apple acquire Tesla. In response, Musk said he wanted to become Apple CEO. The witnesses of that conversation claim that Cook cursed before hanging the phone. Since then, both parties deny the very fact of talking.
Putting it mildly, the companies have had a strained relationship since then. Elon Musk has recently accused Apple of anti-competitive behavior. In Tesla’s quarterly report, commenting on the opening of Supercharger charging stations to other automakers, he said that the company’s goal was to support the advent of sustainable energy. “It is not to create a walled garden and use that to bludgeon our competitors, which is sometimes used by some companies,” he said, alluding to Apple.
