World tourism industry to grow 4-4.5% in 2014

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) expects 2014 to be another record-breaking year with 4-4.5% growth in international tourist arrivals. The current forecast is revised upwards from 3.8%. According to UNWTO, during the first four months of 2014, International tourism was on the rise and still continues to expand. An increase of 5% was seen in this period. Demand for international tourism was the strongest for destinations in the U.S., Asia and the Pacific (+6 percent), as well as Africa and Europe (+5 percent). Europe held its tourism industry growth at the same pace as it was in 2013. In Africa, tourist arrivals grew due to the recovery of North Africa. The Middle East posted negative dynamic – tourist arrivals lost 4%. The United Nations World Tourism Organization anticipates over 460 million people will have travelled abroad from May to August 2014. China, Russia, India, and Saudi Arabia are leaders in spending on travelling abroad.
