In April 2025, Bulgaria's industrial production experienced a significant contraction, declining by 10.4% compared to the same month the previous year. This represents a worsening from the prior month's revised decrease of 9.9% and constitutes the steepest drop in a five-month trend of diminishing industrial activity. The decline is most pronounced in the mining and quarrying sectors, which fell by 3.9% after a 2.7% decline in March, and in manufacturing, which saw a 7% decrease following a 4.4% drop. Conversely, the decline in the electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply sector occurred at a slower rate, down 18.7% compared to a 34.5% decrease previously. However, on a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity showed signs of recovery, increasing by 0.8% in April. This marks the first monthly growth after seven months of consecutive declines, bouncing back from an upwardly revised 5% drop in the preceding period.
