China’s authorities are considering additional retaliatory tariffs against the United States. How else can they protect themselves? So, they have to look for options!
Beijing is exploring countermeasures in response to US President Donald Trump’s threat to impose an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods.
According to Global Times, China's response includes tariffs and other trade restrictions targeting American agricultural and food products. Chinese officials have called these measures strong and powerful, warning the US to think twice before escalating the standoff.
Last week, Trump announced that the new 10% tariffs on China would take effect on Tuesday, March 4. A month ago, similar tariffs were imposed on Chinese goods. In response, Beijing introduced its own import duties and tightened control over the export of rare earth metals.
Analysts believe that Trump’s tariffs and China’s retaliation could further strain relations between the world’s two largest economies. This issue has become even more pressing since the administration of former President Joe Biden imposed strict limits on technology exports to China.
